Our Journey in Chennai’s Steel Furniture Industry
Our connection with steel furniture goes back to 2014. That year, our family started a steel bero manufacturing business in Chennai. At a time when traditional steel beros were common in homes, we were among the early businesses in the Chennai market to introduce model steel beros with a more modern look and design.
We had the ambition to build something of our own. We worked hard. We believed in what we were creating. But business doesn't always go according to plan. In 2018, after four years, we had to close our business because of losses.
It was a difficult chapter for our family. But those four years gave us an education that no school, college or business course could provide. We learned about finance management, labour management, purchasing, pricing, operations and customer relationships. Most importantly, we learned from our mistakes. We learned what it takes to build a business. And we learned what should never be done again.
We lost the business. But we never lost the lessons.
Seven years of rebuilding our foundation
Closing the business did not mean our responsibility ended. For the next four years, we worked to pay off the debts from our previous business. There were no shortcuts. We worked, fulfilled our responsibilities and slowly rebuilt our lives.
After clearing the debts, we spent another three years working and saving. Those seven years changed us. They taught us patience. They taught us discipline. They taught us the value of money, people and customers. And when we finally decided to return to business, we knew we were not starting from where we had left off. We were starting with something much more valuable. Experience.
Daddy’s Brand: A Legacy of Bero & Almirah Restoration
The name Daddy’s Brand came from a conversation with my father. We were talking casually about our family and the generations before us. During that conversation, we started talking about his father — my grandfather.
I noticed something in my father. There was a quiet regret. He wished he could have done something more for his father, but unfortunately, his father was no longer with us. That thought stayed with me.
I started thinking about generations. Every generation leaves something behind. Sometimes it is wealth. Sometimes it is knowledge. Sometimes it is a name. And sometimes, it is simply a memory. I wanted to create something that would make my father happy and proud while keeping my grandfather's memory alive. That was when Daddy’s Brand was born.
The name is for my father. The photograph is of my grandfather — my father's father. For me, that photograph is more than a brand image. It is a reminder of where we came from.

When we decided to start again, we could have returned to manufacturing. Instead, we chose restoration. We started working with old steel beros, almirahs, cupboards and other steel furniture.
Today, our work includes steel bero repair, steel almirah repair, steel cupboard repair and complete steel furniture restoration. We repair and restore damaged locks, handles, doors, mirrors, legs and other parts. We also undertake repainting, refinishing and restoration work to give old steel furniture a fresh appearance and a longer life.
But as we started working with customers, we realised something important. People don't always bring us an old bero simply because they need a repair. Sometimes, they bring it because they don't want to let it go.
